Provide technical support to CPOE clinical systems in order to
maintain the systems in good working order. Provide expert Linux
support for the hospital expanding VMWARE Virtual environment
Essential functions:
Installation, configuration and support of Linux operating
system and peripheral equipment
Building, installing and configuration of Linux based servers,
deploying and testing O/S updates, and performance tuning in a test
and production environment
Provide Linux Systems Administration (Red Hat Linux, SSH
and SFTP) for all installed Linux systems in environment
Solid understanding of networking, and standard network applications
(i.e. TCP/IP, ICMP, trace Route, TCPdump, LAN routing)
Diagnose, solve and provide root cause analysis for hardware
and O/S issues
Maintain/troubleshoot Postfix, DNS Sendmail, SMTP and custom
applications issues
Utilize support lines and other outside professional services
for software installation and problem resolution
Act as liaison with McKesson Clinical technical support team
Securing and maintaining all the Linux systems with best
practices and policies
Develops procedures for operations, backup and disaster recovery
procedure
Provide key operational statistics on system usage, disk
utilization, downtime and performance
Create and maintain Operational Documentation and Technical
Documentation
Document activities and projects
Maintain confidentiality of patient, employee and institutional
data per confidentiality agreement
Education:
BS in Computer Science or related course of study and/or equivalent
experience
License:
RHCE Linux 5 certification on RedHat Linux 9 including monitoring,
tuning, backup/recovery, configuration and maintenance
Work Experience:
5+ years of Linux RedHat system administration
Expert level shell script writing and debugging (ksh, bourne
and Perl) is required in a Linux environment
Experience in the support of Storage Area Networks (EMC is
preferred)
Experience in Oracle 10g RAC Environment
Experience with VMWARE Virtualization and the support of
it
Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP networking and IP routing protocols
Ability to work well with the users and in a cross-team environment
Equipment operated:
Experience with HP Proliant DL and ML type servers and also
HP Blade Technology
Additional Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal and phone skills to effectively and courteously
assist users and staff members and to work with outside professional
services in performing assigned duties
Good writing skills to record and document events and activities
